POSITION SUMMARY:  
Howard Hughes Corporation, the nationally recognized real estate company overseeing the re-development of New York City’s Seaport District envisions the re-positioning of the property as a magnet for attracting locals and visitors alike with a unique, year-round blend of entertainment, food and retail offerings.  The centerpiece of the Seaport District’s renaissance is an entirely re-imagined Pier 17 complex, featuring a one-of-a-kind outdoor Rooftop event and entertainment space with stunning views, designed for the presentation of high-profile headline concerts, corporate and private events, rentals, television events, and a Winter Village experience, among other programming.
 
The Manager of Event & Production Accounting will play an integral role in firmly establishing the Rooftop at Pier 17 as a premium multi-purpose entertainment venue that provides visiting artists, guests, business partners and corporate clients with memorable, world-class event experiences that are second to none.  In addition, this position will be responsible for all other Events and Sponsorship financial reporting across the Seaport portfolio, as assigned.  A proven leader with a demonstrable track-record of; operational expertise, accounting experience and creative vision is required to work collaboratively with the Managing Director, SVP of Sponsorship and Finance/Accounting to manage, present and produce a year-round financial support and analysis of concerts, touring events, company-owned content, festivals, corporate events, galas, and other event showcases on the Rooftop at Pier 17, as well as other areas of the Seaport District, with the ultimate goal of driving significant revenues and positive exposure for the company.
 
ESSENTIAL JOB RESPONSIBILITIES:  
  • The Manager of Event & Production Accounting will be responsible for reporting to the Managing Director, SVP of Sponsorship and Finance/Accounting for ensuring that all Event and Sponsorship Accounting:
    • Conforms to all HHC finance and accounting policies and Procedures
    • Contributes to the redefinition of South Street Seaport as a world-class entertainment destination for local, national and international audiences.
    • Fully exploits the opportunity of unique space and location.
    • Drives traffic to the Seaport that supports and adds value to retail, restaurants, etc.
    • Caps an integrated environment, cultural and public programming strategy
    • Meets ambitious revenue and profitability targets.
    • Ensures that all Seaport properties are programmed with a yearlong calendar of events and activities that maximizes the property’s value.
  • Provide expert insights during the final phases of pre-opening preparation of Pier 17 and other Seaport District venues in close coordination with the Construction and Development Team.
  • Assist in the oversight, planning and management of a high profile, strategically positioned and branded opening for the Pier 17 Rooftop.
  • Gather pre-event estimates in preparation for initial settlements.
  • Gather post-event figures for final event settlements.
  • Assist with the systematic set up of entities to service multiple end users.
  • Work closely with all HHC departments as well as with promoter /client’s finance team(s).
  • Prepare weekly, monthly and annual P&L (profit and loss) statements as well as event P&L, ensuring timeliness and accuracy.
  • Management of the accounting system/labor staffing for HHC 3rd party labor providers.
  • Management of the time and reporting system used by the Food and Beverage Purveyor for all events, catering and other projects as needed.
  • Management and analysis of all Merchandise sales associated with Concerts.
  • Organization of all Finances associated with Events, Sponsorship, etc.
  • Assist in the Annual Capital, Operating, Event and Sponsorship Budgeting process.
  • Assist Finance/Accounting in year-end audits as well as other financial analysis.
  • Review, investigate and correct errors, inconsistencies in financial entries, documents and reports.
  • Create purchase orders, invoices, etc. and track.
  • Responsible for payment to all contractors, vendors, etc.
  • Responsible for coordinating cash receipt and payments.
 
KNOWLEDGE, EXPERIENCE AND SKILLS:
  • Minimum 5 years related experience preferably in a combination of public and private environments
  • The successful candidate will have:
    • The highest level of Venue Management and Accounting Skills as it relates to Events, Sponsorship, Finance and Accounting Procedures, Systems and Software, etc. (MS Office and JDE a plus)
    • Contacts within the Entertainment Industry
    • Ability to manage relationships and partnerships
  • Demonstrated ability as entrepreneurial, motivated and motivating leader
  • Proven track record in successful entertainment venue management.
  • Knowledge of event and production accounting in the Sports and Entertainment Industries
  • Knowledge of New York market
  • Ability to work in a complex operating environment as part of a dispersed, ambitious management team working to high standards and tight deadlines
